WORTHWHILE MAGAZINE OFFERS A VISION FOR
HOW TO ‘BRING YOUR SELF TO YOUR CAREER’

“The difference between winning and losing,
and winning big is that gray line I’ll call perseverance.”
- Howard Schultz

ATLANTA – (April 1, 2005) The May issue of Worthwhile magazine urges readers to take control over their careers with an issue headlined: “Dream It, Live It: Bring Your Self to Your Career.” The issue, featuring advice from business leaders, cartoonists, filmmakers, spiritual connectors and others, features both role models who have blazed their own paths and practical advice for blazing your own.

The issue is packed with ideas for living your work dreams from people who have done it: from Bob Parsons of the controversial domain-name seller godaddy.com (“Stay out of your comfort zone…. Security is for cadavers”) to wine creator Gina Gallo on going with your gut to CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta on the role of exercise to trigger new ideas to Dilbert creator Scott Adams on making your own luck (“You’ve got to have a lot of balls in the air because one of them is going to be lucky and land on a buried treasure”).

In the issue, now hitting newsstands, Worthwhile celebrates a unique brand of “Enlightened Leaders,” individuals who see the workplace as a setting for heroes, for those who offer an alternative to the adage – “business as usual.” Beyond that, the May issue of Worthwhile also features:

* Till 5 p.m. Do Us Part – The hot role of “office spouses” – those relationships that can be more exciting than what’s going on at home, even without sex.
* Out of Tragedy, Meaning – Wall Street headhunter Peter Ressler shows how the September 11 attacks – and the deaths of many friends – brought new significance to his work.
* Need a Great Work Space? – Tired of the neighborhood coffee shop? Eager to find an accessible, realistic and – most importantly – wireless work space? Kate Yandoh provides a list of unconventional “non-office” offices for homebodies and travelers alike.
* From Bully Pulpit to Bully Culture – As workplace bullies migrate from the fringe of office culture to the center, Constance Barkley-Lewis discusses effective tactics for managing this worrisome new trend.
* Cash or Kudos – Don’t settle for the faceless, collective gifts of plaques or cash (although those are always welcome!). Caralee Adams demonstrates that professional recognition is most memorable and effective when tailored to the individual.
* Profiles of well-known personalities who exalt in their work including: former Coke executive Jeff Dunn, “Supersize Me” author and star Morgan Spurlock and environmentalist carpet maker (that’s not a misprint) Ray Anderson.

Filled with inspiring columns, profiles, and articles, Worthwhile explores the personalities and ideas that put passion and purpose on the same plane as profit, and is intended for those looking to infuse their work lives with more fulfillment and joy. Worthwhile is available nationally in Barnes & Noble, Borders, Books-A-Million and independent magazine retailers across the country at a newsstand price of $4.95.
