For Immediate Release Contact: Kathy Bell Nan Redmond “Goldfish Colors Across America” Canvas Swims Into Grand Central Terminal Norwalk, CT, November 4, 2002 – Pepperidge Farm is celebrating the launch of its newest addition to the Goldfish cracker family – Goldfish Colors – with a special children’s art party in New York City’s famed Grand Central Terminal on November 8, 2002. The company is inviting tri-state area school children, teachers, and art teachers to help create and color the ‘World’s Largest Goldfish Canvas.” The event will take place in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. The Goldfish canvas -- measuring approximately 20 feet high and 48 feet wide – will be colored by the children according to five themes: fun, sharing, family, friendship and love. Artistic supervision will be provided by Robert Bender, children’s book illustrator and author of The A to Z Beastly Jamboree, and The Chizzywink And The Alamagoozlum. Bender will conduct several illustration workshops and will read to the children throughout the day. This event will benefit both the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) and local area schools. For every child (or adult!) who brings in a crayon to donate, Goldfish Colors will donate a new box of crayons to the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF), an organization dedicated to the idea that innate creativity of every child needs to be nurtured, celebrated and encouraged. Also, the first 10 schools that participate will receive free crayon supplies from Pepperidge Farm. A total of $10,000 worth of new crayons will be donated. In addition to free art lessons, this fun-packed event will feature face painters, storytellers and a visit from the giant Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Mobile! Each child who participates will receive a package of Goldfish Colors brand crackers and a Goldfish Colors T-Shirt. “The ‘Goldfish Colors Across America’ program is all about bringing more color and fun to kids – which is also the essence of our new Goldfish Colors product,” says Vince Melchiorre, Vice President, Biscuit Marketing, Pepperidge Farm. “Children can have fun and show their creativity coloring our huge Goldfish canvas, and they can also help others by supporting our crayon donation to schools.” The event is part of Pepperidge Farm’s introduction of Goldfish Colors – the company’s first-ever multi-colored cheese flavored Goldfish snack. Featuring the savory cheddar flavor that so many Goldfish fans love, Goldfish Colors have the added attraction of coming in three delightful shades – violet, red and orange (added colors developed from natural sources).
