INTRODUCING THE FIRST ORGANIC
SALTINE, RICH AND CHEDDAR CHEESE CRACKERS

Late July Organic Snacks Offers Consumers An Organic And Trans-Fat Free Choice
For Beloved Classic Snacks By Announcing Their New Line Of Crackers

Hyannis, MA - The founders of Cape Cod Potato Chips, Inc. and Chatham Village Foods, Inc. are looking to put the comfort back in comfort food by offering consumers organic choices for some beloved snacks. Their newest venture, Late July Organic Snacks, took some of America's favorite crackers and made them organic and trans-fat free.

Late July Organic Snacks initial products are organic cheddar cheese, saltine and rich crackers made without heart-clogging trans-fats. All of the crisp, flaky crackers are made without any hydrogenated oils (where the trans-fats hide), preservatives and artificial flavors or colors.

"Late July Organic Snacks trans-fat free organic crackers set a new standard for healthy snacking," said Steve Bernard, the company's Chairman and CEO who started the company with his daughter Nicole. "We all have enough to worry about in our lives that we shouldn't have to worry about what is in the products that we eat."

A commitment to family runs throughout Late July Organic Snacks, including its choice of farmer partners. All three trans-fat organic crackers are made with organic, soft, red winter wheat from family-owned mills, for example. These mills supply a lower gluten content wheat that combines with trans-fat free organic palm oil (not to be confused with palm kernel oil) to give Late July's crackers their flaky texture.

"Organic provides a safety net consumers can't find with other products," said Nicole Dawes, the company's President and COO. "Buying organic is an easy step parents can take to protect their family."

Being the first trans-fat free organic saltine, cheddar cheese and classic rich crackers means a lot to the Late July family because food labels aren't required to list trans-fat content until 2006. Until then, according to Dawes, consumers' best bet is to avoid foods made with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil, where trans-fats are found, or choose Late July's alternatives. Noted Dawes, "Late July's trans-fat free options take the guess work out of picking the healthy choice."

Late July's organic crackers are available in 6-ounce boxes for $2.99. The bite size cheddar cheese crackers are also available in a snack pack (six 1 oz. bags) for $3.69. Look for them at Whole Foods Market, Wild Oats and other natural foods outlets, as well as in leading supermarkets, such as select Albertson's, Big Y, Demoulas Market Basket, Giant, Hannaford Brothers, select Publix, Roche Brothers, Shaws and Stop & Shop.

About Trans-Fats
Contained in thousands of snack foods in the U.S., trans-fats are used by manufacturers to add texture to and increase the shelf life of their products. Trans-fats are made when hydrogen molecules are added to polyunsaturated fats, such as corn oil or soybean oil, to make them saturated and more solid at room temperature. Trans-fats act like saturated fats in the body and increase LDL or "bad" cholesterol and decrease HDH or "good" cholesterol. This puts us at risk for heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

About The Advantage of Organics
Foods that carry the USDA's organic label offer guarantees not available with conventional products. These include: Heavy monitoring - every step of production from farm to table is regulated to be sure the product meets stringent standards; Made without toxic substances - organic products are made without adding prohibited substances like pesticides, fertilizers, rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) and other hormones or antibiotics; Protects the public health - organic farming practices protect our water, air and soil, and help prevent human exposure to pesticides - of particular concern in children whose bodies are more vulnerable.
