Montauk Public School will be green as the doors open for school
President of Juice Energy, Inc. gives back to his childhood school
by helping them to purchase 100% green power!

Montauk, NY (August 13, 2007) – Montauk Public School is going green with the purchase of green power equal to their annual electricity usage. Juice Energy, Inc. of New York, NY made the purchase on behalf of the school.

Montauk Public School’s green power purchase consists entirely of Green-e certified renewable energy credits. RECs are created when electricity is generated from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind geothermal and biomass. Through this purchase, the school is offsetting the carbon emissions resulting from its daily electrical use.

The school, serving grades K-8, has taken many steps to limit their carbon footprint. Montauk Public School Superintendent, J. Philip Perna, believes students should learn to respect the environment. “Everybody talks about being ‘green,’ but we want to teach our students that actions are much stronger than words. We want them to know that we can all make a difference.” In addition to the green power, the school has also reinstated a recycling program that places containers for paper, plastic, and glass/aluminum in every classroom. “We need to demonstrate to the kids what we do on a daily basis. It’s a great way for them to learn.”

Enter Brian Hayduk, President of Juice and a former Montauk Public School student who felt that it was important for his company to lend a hand. “We facilitate the purchase of alternative energy for our clients everyday, it’s part of our basic service.
