FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION SOFTWARE--'IDENTITY FINDER'-- (New York, N.Y., July 18, 2007) Over $100 billion in identity theft has been reported byconsumers and businesses over the past two years. Individuals and corporations have assumed that because they have some sort of anti-virus or anti-spyware program on their computer, they have protected themselves against identity fraud. They learned a hard lesson when they realized that was not the case. Someone becomes a victim of identity theft every two seconds in America. An internet search of the words "identity theft" comes back with almost 12 million results, many of which tout anti-spyware software as the answer to all the identity theft problems. However, no matter how good "anti-this" and "anti-that" is, sensitive data is still at risk to myriad threats. The bigger problem is that personal information resides unprotected on computers and people do not realize they're not doing enough. If they're not protecting their most sensitive information, it is left vulnerable to future problems. Velosecure has just released Identity Finder (http://www.identityfinder.com ), which searches through electronic data such as documents, spreadsheets, e-mails, instant messenger logs, web browsers, and the most hidden system areas of computers for personal details - such as social security numbers, passwords, credit card details and bank account numbers. Most importantly, Identity Finder helps users securely delete, quarantine, or encrypt the data. Most users of anti-virus and anti-spyware programs don't realize that they're unprotected until it's too late. These programs are great at identifying external threats, but they don't help find and protect personal information. Identity Finder, offered in personal, business, and enterprise editions, comprehensively searches computers with proprietary algorithms to automatically locate sensitive data regardless of format and syntax. With public disclosure of over 154 million records containing private information since 2005, thirty-three states in the U.S. have passed laws requiring individuals to be notified of data leakage. Additionally, home users are conducting more business online and are always connected to the internet, which increases their exposure to security incidents. Yet, until now, no software solutions have been available to help users easily identify and safeguard personal information. Todd Feinman, CEO, is available to discuss their new software and this growing problem in general. |
