H&M DIVES INTO SWIMWEAR WITH
CHRISTY TURLINGTON

New H&M Ad Campaign Features Top International Model
Wearing This Summer’s Hottest Fashions

NEW YORK, April 25, 2002 – H&M, Europe’s leading fashion retailer, announced today the company’s new print advertising campaign for the summer season, featuring model Christy Turlington. The advertisements convey a scuba diving theme, with each ad featuring Turlington in different swimwear fashions. Swiss photographer Raymond Meier, who works with many top fashion magazines such as Vogue and W, shot the ads on the black lava beaches of Hawaii.

The new ads, which feature Turlington in swimwear looks under $20, will be shown in all 14 countries where H&M has retail locations. In the U.S., the ads will appear in the June issues of several women’s publications, including Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, Jane, Seventeen, Cosmo Girl, YM and Teen People. Print ads featuring men’s swimwear worn by model Christian Monzon will appear in the June issues of Details, Maxim and Spin.

“Our new swimwear collection ad campaign reinforces H&M’s commitment to offer customers high-style and top-quality designs at prices that make fashion affordable; and who better to model these features than Christy Turlington,” explained Karen Belva, pubic relations manager, H&M. “The campaign highlights our collection’s versatility such as mix and match swimwear tops and bottoms, as well as a broad range of fashion accessories that are essential for warm weather including sunglasses and hair bands.”

Turlington currently resides in New York City and is one of the world’s most recognizable models, gracing the cover of everything from Vogue to Time. She is known for her sporty lifestyle and extensive charity work. Turlington is the latest in a long line of model celebrities who have appeared in H&M advertisements. H&M has previously featured Bridget Fonda, Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, and Claudia Schiffer in its ads.

H&M offers fashion and quality at the best price and sells globally 400 million articles a year. This year’s swimwear collection created by H&M’s in-house designers for women, men, teens and kids, features the season’s hip, high-quality trends in vibrant colors like red, coral, navy and bright blue, as well as various shades of caramel, and also leopard print, suede-effect and crocheted-knit looks. The swimwear collection offers varied styles and ranges in price from $7.50 for bikini separates to $25 for a one-piece suit.

H&M is Europe’s leading fashion retailer offering fashion and quality at the best price.
