THIS VALENTINE’S DAY, COUPLES GET A CHANCE TO SETTLE THEIR
POLITICAL DIFFERENCES WITH A LITTLE CHEESE,
SAUCE AND DOUGH

Domino’s Pizza Team Washington Offers “The Carville-Matalin Pizza”
To Couples With Different Political
Views as a Chance to Reach Common Ground

WASHINGTON, DC – February 9, 2004 – Valentine’s Day during an election year can often mean some difficult times for couples that have conflicting political views. Romantic dinners can easily become debates regarding the deficit, gun control and the healthcare system. In an effort to keep the romance alive and the arguments to a minimum, Domino’s Pizza Team Washington is offering couples the ultimate way to express their differences – without having to make a sacrifice.

On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, any Democrat-Republican couple who orders a pizza with half one-topping and half another topping from one of the Domino’s Pizza Team Washington stores will receive $3 off their purchase – making it the ultimate bipartisan act. The program, called “The Carville-Matalin Pizza,” honors the infamous Democrat-Republican couple that have shown the world that love is blind to political differences. In fact, Domino’s plans to deliver James and Mary their very own “politically correct” pizza on Valentine’s Day. Additionally, each couple will be asked to sign a special bipartisan Valentine’s Day pact, in which they promise not to talk about politics for the entire day.

“We wanted to create a program that recognizes the differences between couples, while offering the chance to put those differences aside for one day,” explained Frank Meeks, owner of Domino’s Pizza Team Washington. “In a city like Washington, DC, there are plenty of Democrats who have found love with a Republican and vice versa. We thought this program celebrated their political differences, but also allows them to share something together on this special day.”

Love comes in many shapes, sizes and political platforms. This Valentine’s Day, couples can put aside their differences and express themselves with pepperoni, sausage, veggies or even extra cheese. At Domino’s Pizza, love is a beautiful thing, and so is a piping hot pizza with half sausage and half veggie. Now, if only our politicians could settle their differences over some ‘za.
