'Candle for Tibet' and 'Songs for Tibet' in a show of solidarity with the Dalai Lama and the people of Tibet on the eve of the Beijing Olympics

'SONGS FOR TIBET’ CD release is now a true global event!

Music from STING, ALANIS MORISSETTE, MOBY, DAVE MATTHEWS, JOHN MAYER, IMOGEN HEAP & MORE to be played during hundreds of ‘CANDLE FOR TIBET’
vigils worldwide

(Tel Aviv, August 5, 2008 )— 'SONGS FOR TIBET' is lending a hand to the ‘CANDLE FOR TIBET’ (CFT) campaign, by providing its album for play at CFT candle lighting vigils across the globe.

The 'SONGS FOR TIBET' album will feature a number of original recordings as well as acoustic versions of previously released songs. Sales of the album will go to support Tibetan cultural preservation projects and peace initiatives. The album is available for purchase worldwide, including at the Art of Peace Foundation Web site: (http://www.artofpeacefoundation.org), iTunes and Amazon. The album will be available soon at both CFT Web sites: (http://www.candle4tibet.org  and its social network http://candle4tibet.ning.com/).

The CFT action, named "The Greatest Light Protest on Earth," will start on Thursday, August 7th, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. local time, when at least 100 million people from over 150 countries, are expected to light a candle in public, with friends or at their homes. People can join the action at http://www.candle4tibet.org.

Thursday is also the night of the 'SONGS FOR TIBET' CD release party in New York City. During this party, the Art of Peace Foundation will support CFT with its own candle lighting ceremony.

"We are extremely happy to be able to share this music from 'Songs for Tibet' with all the wonderful supporters of CFT around the world. Each candle will be a blessing for the people of Tibet." said Michael Wohl, Executive Director at The Art of Peace Foundation.

Sting, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, and Alanis Morissette are just a few of the celebrated artists whose new recordings will be released this Thursday, August 7, during a major launching event in NYC and during hundreds of Candle for Tibet (CFT) vigils worldwide.

These artists appear on the forthcoming album SONGS FOR TIBET, a CD project from the Art of Peace Foundation, a non-profit organization founded on the Dalai Lama's belief of "Universal Responsibility." As a show of solidarity with the Dalai Lama and Tibet, 20 artists have come together to release this historic double album on the eve of the Beijing Olympics.

"Working with the Art of Peace Foundation and its album release initiative is a great blessing," said David Califa, who created the Campaign for Tibet four months ago. "Having 'Songs for Tibet' participate in our worldwide vigils along with Robert Thurman, and recently receiving the support of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, creates a united action-front that can do so much more for the people and culture of Tibet.”

What is a Light Protest:

A light protest is similar to a normal protest (the kind you hear about in the news or in the papers) but with several main differences:

·        A light protest unites millions of people around the world.

·        A light protest invites people to take a simple act on a specific moment in time, for a single goal.

·        A light protest is a new global medium which enhances the power of one person to make a stand.

·        A light protest will always fight for a noble cause, such as human rights, freedom of choice, thought, belief and so on.

·        A light protest is non-profit, and non-violent!

Remember, that a light protest depends on each and every one of us making our stand on the same day, and inviting other people & friends to join.

It's as simple as that, and very effective!
